About The IDEAL Workshop

Identify challenges. Develop a better understanding. Establish plans. Act. Lead by example.

American Councils for International Education is seeking experienced professionals to serve as mentors for the 2026 IDEAL Workshop, a personal and professional development program for alumni of the YES, FLEX, and A-SMYLE programs. To be selected as a mentor, one must demonstrate experience or potential as a teacher, trainer, and/or facilitator with expertise related to one of the following areas and present a compelling, interactive, and engaging potential curriculum in that area.

Workshop theme areas:

  • Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship, and Commercial Diplomacy
  • International Relations (including elements of negotiation and conflict resolution)
  • Health and Wellbeing (including mental health and sports as a wellness/wellbeing tool)
  • Civic Education, Leadership, and Policymaking (including elements of public speaking and debate)

Please note: all participants are required to implement a post-workshop project using the knowledge they gained through the workshop.
