Program Overview
Future Leaders Exchange Global Abroad (FLEX Global Abroad)
Program Duration: Academic Year Only
The FLEX Global Abroad program provides young Americans a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth and fosters the next generation of leaders. Talented high school students from across the U.S. are chosen through a merit-based process to live with a host family and attend high school for one academic year in select countries. As citizen diplomats, students showcase American excellence; learn about innovation, business, and technology in their host communities; develop their entrepreneurial, language, and leadership skills; and strengthen ties between U.S. and their host countries. FLEX Global Abroad locations include (subject to change): Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Morocco, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania and Thailand. FLEX Global Abroad is an Academic Year (10 month) program.
National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y)
Program Duration: Summer or Academic Year
NSLI-Y is an intensive summer and academic year overseas language immersion program for high school students and recent high school graduates to learn Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Korean, or Russian. NSLI-Y equips young Americans to succeed in the global economy with the linguistic, cross-cultural, and leadership competency skills needed for success in a wide array of careers. Applicants may choose to apply for Summer (6 to 8 weeks) and/or Academic Year (8-10 months) programs.
