U.S. English Teaching Program for Afghan Refugees (USET)

Application for Young Afghans Aged 18-35

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and implemented by American Councils for International Education (American Councils)

About USET

American Councils announces an open competition for young Afghans who speak English to participate in the U.S. English Teaching Program for Afghan Refugees (USET). The overall goal of USET is to develop a cadre of Afghan students who can serve as language educators and cross-cultural ambassadors to help meet the needs of Afghan refugees who have left their country.

The participants go through three weeks of training and receive a certificate, and then receive equipment (laptop or tablet) and instructional materials to use to do teaching in their communities. There is no cost to participate - the program is fully funded.
