About The Alumni Internship Program Application
The Alumni Internship Program for FLEX and YES Alumni from South-East Europe and Senegal, referred to as the Alumni Internship Program, is funded by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and implemented by American Councils for International Education. This program connects highly motivated Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) and Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program alumni with host organizations across the globe. While the interns gain hands-on internship experience, receive professional development trainings, and a stipend from the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), the host organizations receive talented, tech-savvy, and globally minded interns to work on tasks of their choice. The Alumni Internship Program is designed to give younger alumni a kick-start in their professional careers and expand on their work experience and professional skills.
The internship is part-time and lasts up to 3 months. There are three types of internships available: in-person, hybrid, and online. The selected interns are matched with a host organization based on their interests, skills, knowledge, and motivation; educational background in the host organization's field of work and proficiency in certain languages will be seen as an advantage.
Eligibility:
- Open to FLEX Alumni (all countries), YES Alumni (from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Senegal), and ALEX alumni from these countries;
- Successful completion of the exchange program and compliance with the two-year home residency requirement.
- Enrollment in an undergraduate higher education program (or recent graduate).
